I have traveled a lot around Manila since I have been here, I have even visited the slums. There were more houses than I expected to have power, but then again I thought that no houses there would have access to electricity. The flimsy structure of many of the houses there are not very safe for putting cords to supply power, especially when it is around the rivers and water.
Manila uses many different sources of electricity to power buildings and households there, ranging from charcoal to biomass fuels.
Since 1980, Manila's energy consumption has more than doubled, going from 6,500,000 to 15,000,000 MwH. This means that the power consumption in the city has risen since 1980 and will most probably continue to as long as the population continues to increase.
